Man's world - premature ejaculation
With the scene of Jim and his body embraced with orgasmic cramps after a few seconds, just because of gentle touches and the look of a classmate, I can't help but feel pity and scoff at the same time. But premature ejaculation has not always been the reason for laughter.
Male ejaculation consists of two parts. Although we mostly equate it with a fountain that comes after a few movements of the pelvis back and forth, in biological terms, it is divided into a phase of emission and expulsion. In the first phase, neuro vegetative stimulation triggers contractions of the internal organs - the seminal duct, seminal vesicles, and prostate. Sperm begins to accumulate in the prostate urethra, which is closed by two sphincters. This prevents sperm from escaping into the foamy urethra or the urinary tract. The sperm is stored safely in a kind of human syringe.
In the second stage, however, the contractions also spread to the penis muscles. The sphincter, the door to the penile urethra, opens, and only then do we see the white fountain. Occasionally, the other sphincter opens up, leading to the urinary tract. In this case, the ejaculate is mixed with urine.
Today, sex is no longer associated only with reproductive function but also with the erotic. Until modern times, people did not talk about premature ejaculation. Biologically, we were more like our closest brothers, at least regarding sex - bonobo monkeys. When studying this species, scientists have found that premature ejaculation is a natural biological response. Mating lasts only a few seconds. If female monkeys could speak, they would probably complain that they are not cared for in these relationships. On average, their mating lasts ten seconds. In other species of monkeys, mating is shorter (5 seconds) or longer (30 seconds), but it does not meet human expectations in modern times. In comparison, it takes a man from half a minute to two minutes from the beginning of coitus to ejaculation.
In animals, we still talk about premature ejaculation as a biological advantage. In polyandric species (mating with several partners), early ejaculation allows faster reproduction and gives more chances for the continuation of the species. Time is also essential in felines. In this sexual union, the male must be cautious, as the female can attack him after the job is done or between. In some cases, sex also costs the males their lives. In the case of elephants, speed is more important for the female, which is bending under the weight of the male, while in the case of more vulnerable species, it is coitus that makes them an easy target for predators. s
Until the second half of the twentieth century, men who did their jobs quickly were also considered supermen. In older models of human sexuality, speed was valued, and its opposite was considered psychopathology.
In 1974, however, this view began to turn upside down. In the work of Morton Hunt, an American psychologist, sex does not only have a reproductive function but couples are even advised to prolong sexual union, mainly for the benefit of the woman. Since then, premature ejaculation has been classified as sexual dysfunction. The end of the Second World War brings significant socio-economic changes. At the same time, feminist movements that advocate gender equality are getting louder. A man who in the past did not care for a woman's pleasure now becomes a responsible one.
In traditional sexology, there are several definitions of premature ejaculation, but they are far away from being scientifically proven:
- Masters in Johnson: they talk about premature ejaculation every time a man reaches orgasm before a woman does, but they do not take into account female sexuality;
- Some scientists have defined premature ejaculation according to the number of strokes during sexual intercourse before ejaculation;
- The psychoanalytic theory treats premature ejaculation as a consequence of a deeper conflict in the unconscious.
In all these theories, there is nothing worthwhile that one can rely on while trying to determine the reason for premature ejaculation. After all read, Jim's orgasmic cramps were not worth mocking but should be applauded. Excluding disgruntled women.
